Eli Beacon's past is as mysterious as his work. His powerful landscapes and use of color invoke the feeling of traditional 19th century American oils, but you are then immediately transported to the 21st century spontaneity. "When I need inspiration, I get into my truck and drive until I see a feeling ...I'd never stop and try to replicate what's in front of me, like a photo, it's never as good as the image in your head. I paint what I take away from a moment."
